🧭N is for Navigate: The Next Right Step

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

Ever feel like you're spinning your wheels, trying to fix everything at once, only to end up exhausted and stuck? I've been there, too.

In this final episode of the ALIGN Reset series, I’m sharing what I’ve learned about navigation — not in the GPS sense, but in the “How do I know what to do next?” sense. Because life doesn’t move in straight lines… it moves in seasons, in decisions, in grace-filled steps.
Let’s talk about how to navigate what’s next — with clarity, purpose, and faith.

The Truth About Growth: It’s a Cycle, Not a Finish Line

You’ve probably heard me say this before, but it’s worth repeating: growth isn’t a one-and-done moment. It’s a rhythm. That’s why the ALIGN framework ends with “Navigate.” It’s the step that launches you into your next step.
ALIGN stands for:

      A – Assess: Where am I really?
L – Learn: What has God been showing me?
I – Inventory: Where are my time, money, and energy going?
G – Grow: What Micro Move can I take?
     N – Navigate: What’s next?

Just like shampoo bottles say, “rinse and repeat,” ALIGN is a rhythm you return to again and again.

📆What’s Right, Right Now?

Christy Wright often asks: What’s right, right now — in this season?

Maybe your focus is:

  • Finances
  • Healing
  • Health
  • Decluttering
  • Career or calling
  • Relationships
  • Hobbies

This doesn’t mean ignoring everything else — it means giving focused attention to one “room” of your life. Because trying to do everything usually leads to doing nothing.

When Competing Priorities Collide

A year and a half ago, I was maxed out. I was working full-time, teaching ESL, hosting an international student, and pursuing a new life coaching certification. My finances looked great… but my time was gone.

That’s when I had to ask: What will help me reach my God-given goals in the long run?

I realized I needed to step back and make space to learn what had always held me back — email marketing. That decision to pause my financial goals and take a step of faith—to learn something new with the hope it would bear fruit later—wasn’t easy, but it planted the seeds that are growing now. It gave birth to the Cup of Hope podcast, this blog, and helped me finally build the systems I’d been missing.

I had to give up some good things… to make room for the God-things.

Who Do You Need to Become?

When you choose a Power Priority, you’re not just choosing what to do — you’re choosing who you’re becoming.

That’s why I teach my clients to create a simple “I Am” statement:

I am a [adjective], [adjective], [adjective] [noun].

Here are a few examples:

✅I am a committed, courageous, consistent runner.
✅ I am a wise, faithful, intentional steward.
     ✅I am a brave, healing, hope-filled woman.

This isn’t about pretending. It’s about living into the identity God sees in you — just like He did with Gideon. God called him a “mighty warrior” while he was hiding in fear. What different choices will you make when you are living from your identity or "I am" statement that is rooted in truth?

💪🏻Your Challenge This Week:

  • Choose your “room” — the area you’ll focus on for the next 7 days.
  • Create your “I Am” statement.
  • Identify a daily Micro Move that supports your identity and direction.

Read your I am statement at the beginning of the day and ask yourself:  "What would this girl do today?"  And then go be her!

🙏 A Prayer for You:

Father God, thank You for this reader — for her desire to ALIGN with You. Speak truth over her identity. Not based on where she’s been or what she’s facing, but on who You created her to be.

👑Call out the mighty warrior in her. Give her clarity, courage, and peace. Show her the next right step. Remind her she is not behind — she is becoming...becoming the woman you called her to be. Amen.

💛 Remember: God can take the broken pieces of your story and create something more beautiful than you ever imagined. Until next time, I’m Sherry DuShaw, and this is A Cup of Hope.
